Erma Bombeck Writing Competition Online
Submit an original essay online of 450 words or fewer beginning Tuesday, December 2, 2025, in the Erma Bombeck Writing Competition. The contest closes January 6, 2026, 8:00 PM (EST) (note the evening close). Four Winners (Local Humor, Local Human Interest, International Humor, International Human Interest) will receive $1,000, and a free registration to the workshop at the University of Dayton in April, 2026. Honorable Mentions will receive $100 each. Entry fee $25. All Ohio entries will be considered Local. For rules and how to enter, visit the website.
