Exhibit: Shawna Hatton "Meditations on a Theme" In-Person
Shawna Hatton is a mixed-media artist and educator, and the owner of Chasing Light Art Studio and Gallery in Springboro, OH. A lifelong artist, her work is inspired by nature, light, and the beauty of God's creation. Her expressionistic mixed-media paintings employ color, texture, and movement to convey emotional experience. Hatton's work is held in private collections throughout the United States and Europe. She earned a B.F.A. in Painting from Saint Mary's College, received a fellowship from the Dayton Visual Arts Center in 2018, and was awarded the Denis Diderot A-I-R Grant in 2023 to attend an artist residence at Château Orquevaux in France. As an educator, Hatton is deeply committed to art as a healthy and transformative outlet, and to guiding students in discovering and developing their own unique artistic voices.
Meditations on a Theme - The paintings in this exhibition bring together works from different series, united by an ongoing exploration of various forms of love. Moving between abstraction and representation, the paintings allow love to surface through gesture, atmosphere, color, and form, serving as a reminder of what binds everything together.
Works from the series Heart of the Matter explore the connection between the heart and the brain. Fifty percent of all proceeds from these pieces will be donated to the Alzheimer's Association.
